One of the many financial institutions with which I do business recently sent me a copy of their privacy policy, which included (among other things) the following rather choice words:
"We do not disclose any nonpublic personal information about our current and former participants to anyone, except as permitted by law."
In other words, they promise not to break the law on my behalf. That's about it. In the spirit of this policy, I announce my new diet plan:
From now on, I will never eat jelly donuts or drink tequila, except as permitted by law.
This is one diet plan I think I can actually stick with.
It sounds like you're rather cynical about diets. Am I right?

In this case I'm cynical about bank "privacy policies" that might more accurately be described as information sharing policies. I admit the connection to food is a bit of a stretch. I'll try and stay on topic from now on.
